We all have or have had pets in our lifetime, but it’s only once in a generation that one of them leaves
an indelible mark on your heart. That is the case with our Titan. Titan was the most loyal and faithful dog
we have ever owned. He would sit at the door and await our return, even if you just went into another
room. When I would sit on the couch he was always within arm’s reach. We probably should have
named him Shadow. I know now why the Doberman breed is called the Velcro dog. I believe he would
have died fighting to save the life of my wife or me and we fought dearly to save his. I read an inscription
that summed up this loyal family member and that is “You were my favorite hello and my hardest
goodbye”. That quote could have come from us or from Titan if he could talk.
We lost Titan after a 16-month battle with heart failure. Dr. Melanie Galloway and her crew at the
Animal Hospital in Oakland went above and beyond the call of duty to bring us the extra time with Titan,
but even then, we weren’t ready to let him go. When his time came, he was gone in a matter of
seconds. We have huge holes in our hearts and will miss him forever but take some comfort in knowing
that he’s playing and running freely at the Rainbow Bridge.
The kind folks at Peebles made the last step of Titans journey easy and memorable- Thank You
Goodbye our loyal friend
