Sunday evening (8-7-2016) at 8:55pm, Perpetua, our much loved daughter, crossed over into the Lord's Rainbow Heaven. Perpetua celebrated her 14th birthday May 5th with us, her family; even then evidencing signs of illness. However, not until four days prior to her passing did she reveal lameness, thereafter her health declined precipitously, suffering from old age and bone cancer.
She was with Suda and me for nearly 11 years. How blessed we were to have enjoyed her penetrating personality and love. She was faithful and loyal to her end. Her passing at the hands of Dr. Gerald Blackburn was touching, yet peaceful. Perpetua's body was cremated Tuesday (8-9-2016) and her remains interred over her dearly-loved mate, Shiloh.
Her loss has rendered us, like all who lose their beloved Greyhounds, with inconsolable grief. Nevertheless, we take joy in having had the privilege and honor to have had her so many memorable years; she was the matriarch of our 'Greyt' family.
During the years we have adopted eight wonderful Greyhounds, all were uniquely exceptional but Perpetua stood out among them as particularly remarkable as she was the most passionate of her peers. Nonetheless, life is too short for us to ever live long enough to find another girl as great. Although, little doubt exist that some exceptionally similar girls are alive and well even to this day.
Perpetua came into our lives under seemingly serendipitous circumstance but left us with little doubt that her life was providentially destined to intersect ours. Perhaps, this is the lone reason for her greatness in our family history of many special Guys.
While her gracious stature and sole-penetrating gaze shall be missed, we are truly appreciative of Mid South Greyhound Adoption for having made her available to join and enrich our lives. Moreover, we are blessed for having Perpetua's love, devotion and Joy which she readily shared with us, her Calabro family.
Scripture states that the end of a thing is better than it beginning, as the end reveals the meaning of that life. May she wait for us in the arms of an angel who lifted her spirit upwards toward the Bridge in Rainbow Heaven!
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your unspeakable gift of Perpetua's life, she filled our heart - our soul - with so much love ... Amend.
