On May 23, 2006, a cute white fur ball was born. Little did I know his Dad was bringing him to our new home as a surprise to his brother, Corey. We added to our "Clampets," so Jed it was! Jed was your typical Lab at first; hunting was always on his mind. His Sister, Jessica, and I spent many nights with a flashlight looking for him. We realized it wasn't Ducks he was out hunting! We took a trip to the vet, no more girlfriends for my guy. He was finally staying home!
He was a clumsy fella at times. Like when he fell off the porch and broke his leg. That didn't stop him though! If I was outside, that's where he was going to be also. This is where our bond began. I witnessed a very tragic event while Jed was with me. From THAT moment Jed became my boy, my protector. If I breathed, if I made one step, there he was! We had a bond like no other! He never liked me to leave home but somehow always knew when I would return! I could always count on turning in the driveway and there he would be patiently waiting for his person, his Momma.
Time seemed to keep going but my big 120 lb fella was starting to slow down. He couldn't see with those beautiful green eyes like he once could, but that big brown nose with a freckle still worked! He could sniff me out anywhere! I am so grateful to have been your Momma for 13 wonderful years. The house sure is quite without your big old feet dragging behind me. Sitting outside just isn't the same either. I knew, and you knew, Friday when your legs just couldn't carry you anymore that it was time to let you run free and healthy again. Our last ride together, I knew you were going to be ok when I saw the smile on your face as the wind blew those flappy ears. I was so lost without you when I got home. You weren't done though! Out of no where it started raining, right at the time of day you got your special treat. I walked outside and there was a rainbow where we always sat. I knew it was my "Jeddi."
